Quebracho is the collective name of three evergreen tree species growing in subtropical forests of South America, its bark and wood. The word comes from the Spanish “quiebra-hacha” which means “break an axe” and implies a high hardness wood trees quebracho. These include two types of plants are called the red quebracho, namely Schinopsis quebracho-colorado, Schinopsis balansae and distinct Schinopsis family Sumach. They grow in southern Brazil, Northern Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay. The wood of these trees is very heavy and solid, has a dark red color, reaching the black color. Wood density can reach up to 1200 kg/m3. The third type of plant is it Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco or white quebracho . belonging to the family Metrovia. This tree, like a weeping willow, 15-20 m in height grows in Argentina and Northern Brazil, the wood has a light yellow color and a high density of about 850 kg/m3.
