Medicinal plants of Siberia
Traditional medicine is the accumulated thousand-year experience of knowledge of the healing properties of various plants, some objects animal and mineral raw materials, as well as methods of caring for the sick. For the treatment of various diseases folk medicine uses not only plants, but also combinations of them in the form of so-called teas, or fees. Often these teas contain significant amounts of components of the action sometimes similar, sometimes diverse, and in each case are assigned to the treatment group or family of diseases or very different diseases. In the preparation of the combined funds are often used completely unique methods not routinely applied in scientific medicine.
When collecting information about people’s use of plants often have to deal with the emergence of new folk remedies for the treatment of certain diseases. In the last decades thanks to the emergence of large numbers of immigrants from other parts of the country, in Siberia there are many new tools that had popular application in the European part of Russia or in the republics of Central Asia. Quite often migrants from other areas recommended for medicinal purposes of plants similar in morphology, with the European, but belong to another species, and quite often these plants are among the traditional medicine of Central Siberia.
Often when introducing new tools, traditional medicine uses one of the principles of homeopathy, checking the effects of drugs from plants to man, usually by himself. This method, of course, can not be justified, since such testing often leads to severe consequences. Scientific medicine rejects it, and in this regard, in our country there is even the relevant legislation.
Traditional medicine, thus, feeds science with new and new kinds of plants. It is no wonder — after all, plants folk medicine has been used for many centuries, after so much time. That’s why they are used, and close attention of scientists lekarstvennih, pharmacologists and physicians, as well as pharmacognostic and other professionals.
The study of local medicinal flora in Russia is engaged in a large number of different research institutions such as VILR, VNIHFI, VIR, etc.,— institutions of the Academy of Sciences of Russia, problem laboratories, and the relevant Department of higher educational institutions — medical, pharmaceutical etc.
Very popular in folk medicine and are products of animal and mineral origin whole animals (as treated in the appropriate manner, and live — leeches, bees), various organs of animals, their waste products, finally, various mineral objects of natural origin, rock oil, Shilajit, jade. The origins of the use of these substances also lie in antiquity. Especially widespread is the use of animal and mineral objects in Tibetan medicine and later homeopathy. From the border areas of the TRANS-Baikal region — China and Mongolia — Tibetan medicine penetrated into the territory of the southern TRANS-Baikal and southern Baikal region. This circumstance led to the fact that many tools of Tibetan medicine and now widely used in folk medicine of these areas and, moreover, are gaining increased recognition in other parts of Central Siberia, and some of them after a detailed study has already been entered or is entered in scientific medicine.
